The most amazing place to explore and view wildlife in Tanzania is at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. At the Conservation area and particularly the Ndutu area are settings of the wildebeest calving season. During this time, you will be able to witness thousands of baby wildebeests being born and a plethora of opportunistic predators catching easy prey. This is where you can discover a unique setting with diverse scenery, prolific wildlife and birdlife, and an ecosystem like no other.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers mountain forests, woodlands, grasslands, lakes, swamps and two major rivers. Oldupai Gorge is also found here.
Its dominant feature is the Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and also a protected world heritage site. The Ngorongoro crater is considered one of the world’s most astonishing natural wonders. Within the crater, you’ll find the highest density of lions in the entire world. The area is also known for the black rhinos. Leopards, hyena and cheetah are also commonly spotted within the conservation area.
