The park is unique for its herds of dust-red elephants and hosts more than 10, 000 of them. The Southern part of the park, near river Galana, is ideal for safaris as it provides amazing variety of wildlife. Even though Tsavo East and West National parks are only separated by the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, they are distinct in a number of ways-varying ecosystems. Taita hills wildlife sanctuary is a private Conservancy that is habitat to large herds of elephants. Sometimes one can experience a spectacular show as the elephants come to quench their thirst and cool at the waterhole overlooking the lodge.
Afterwards the 8 days Elephants Trails safari will lead you to the amazing Amboseli National Park, second most popular park in Kenya, for excellent views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and large herds of elephants. Here you’ll learn in details about the conservation efforts being taken to ensure the host community, in this case the Maasai, live harmoniously with these animals.
